I’ve spent the holiday weekend working on a new Caustic Reverie album with a fair amount of throwing candy at children yesterday morning. It’s staggering how many great presets came with the synth vsts in the Komplete 5 package, but I though it would be more fun to try and build the sounds for this album from the ground up, starting from a single oscilator whenever possible. It probably would have helped to look at a manual, as Absynth and FM8 are some of the least inuitive plugins I’ve used in a while. The new album has a working title of Rented Spouses, though I do like the ring to Rudeness Poets.
The latest Caustic Reverie album was featured on the experimental music blog The Glass Forest. Check it out!
Glacial Procession is the next project of Caustic Reverie. Bryn is more and more able to link field recording and ambient-music as atmospheric and artistic as possible. A freezing cold blows the listener away and tears him into the arms of the exciting and atmospheric world of Caustic Reverie.
Marc from The Glass Forest gave my project a nice writeup on his experimental music blog The Glass Forest.
In other CR news, I’m working on a fairly minimalist drone, possibly for inclusion in Project 168.
I’ve opened up a shop on Spreadshirt for those that are interested in wearing clothes. The first design came out a little pricier than I was ancipating, but it gives you +1 to LCK and CHR.
Inadmissible Evidence is the tenth release from my Caustic Reverie project. It consists of an-album length piece split into 13 tracks as well as Vigils, another song in the canonical hours cycle.
1-13. Inadmissible Evidence
14. Vigils
Since completing my entry for this year’s RPM challenge, it looks like what was supposed to be Caustic Reverie album nine will now be number ten. Submitted for your approval: Rust Shore.
1. Anthodite (17:36)
2. Rust Shore (18:15)
3. Still Lake (20:24)
I’ve known about the RPM Challenge (create an album in the month of February) for several months now but I’ve been hoping to finish a project that I started around the end of January first. I got sidetracked by a remix contest for Steven Wilson’s new album Insurgentes. I’ve finished the remix and I’m more than 3/5 through with Helix, but seeing that I had a week left to get my stuff together for RPM, I spent most of the weekend working on something new. I’ve completed three fairly minimal drones for this project that total 56 minutes of music. I haven’t decided on titles for the songs or started on album art.
I mentioned earlier that my third Caustic Reverie album has now been pressed. Here’s some pictures and links for you to listen and perhaps buy it.
I’ve put three of my albums up on CD Baby.Absent, Mute, and Stochastic Resonance are for sale for $10.00 each, or $5.00 each if you buy all three. If there’s a good reaction, I’ll see about making the rest of the catalog available.
By all means, feel free to download and listen before you buy.
